Refractometers
What is it?
It is an optical or electronic device indicating the sugar content in fruits.
What is it for?
With the refractometer we can measure the amount of sugars present in the fruit. In index of sugar denominates degrees BRIX. Depending on the type of fruit in fresh or jam we will need a refractometer that covers fresh up to 32 degrees Brix and up to 90 in jams.
How is it used?
We extract a few drops of juice from the fruit to be analyzed, place it on the apparatus and, using an optical viewfinder and looking towards the light, we obtain a refractive index of the light which, to a greater degree, we have the highest sugar point.
Who is it for?
Very used by winemakers to analyze the sugars of the grape before harvesting or for fruit farmers in general.
